Edward Weston, an English-born electrical engineer (not the photographer), founded the Weston Electrical Instrument Company in Newark, New Jersey, in 1888. In 1932 it launched the Weston 617, one of the first photoelectric exposure meters, and its film speed ratings were widely used before ISO.
