Founded 1936 · left photography 1969
Argus grew out of the International Radio Corporation of Ann Arbor, Michigan, which turned to cameras when radio sales fell in the Depression. Its cheap Argus A of 1936 and the Argus C3 of 1939 brought 35mm photography to millions of Americans.
